Professional Cat Grooming in Newcastle

Welcome to Cat gooming by Steph, located in Benton, Newcastle upon Tyne, covering the North East.

As a fully trained and insured cat only groomer, I offer specialized, stress-free grooming tailored to each cat's unique personality and welfare.

My goal is to keep your furry friend calm and comfortable while ensuring they look their best. I educate owners keep their cat matt free but provide that extra help to keep your cat well groomed and ensure owners can simply enjoy their pets.

I do not do Lion cuts or comb cuts as put cat health and welfare first (see gallery flyer explaining)

I work from home in relaxed environment with time between clients for cleaning and no dogs.

All cats catered for from domestic short/long hairs to experience in grooming Maine Coons, Ragdolls and Persians.

Steph will recommend Gabapentin from your vet in rare cases where cat will not accept grooming but most cats no matter how badly matted will accept help without any calming medication.

Payment on day, most cards accepted. 20% discount on repeat appointments or multiple cat families.

About Steph

Steph worked as a strategy planning engineer building new factories globally within the semiconductor industry.

Steph travelled in early 20's to work in Germany, Holland, Middle east and USA before spending 20 years in Ireland.

After adopting a Persian kitten over 9 years ago Steph found a cat groomer 1.5 hours away and due to distance was kindly invited to do a 1 day course in the basics of cat grooming. This was life changing moment.

The instructor realised Steph had a natural talent for calming cats and from this Steph ended up doing a full certification over 6 months in cat grooming and styling. Steph ended up grooming cats on a Monday in a busy Dublin cat Salon often grooming 6-8 cats in a day.

Steph recently returned back home to UK to look after 90 year old mum and start own part time cat grooming business.

Steph grooms 2 cats per day so limited appointments but will fit in emergency appointments as needed.

Why groom Kittens?
Starting cat grooming early—while your kitten is still young—offers long-term physical, behavioral, and health benefits. Here are the biggest advantages:
1. Builds Positive Grooming Habits
Kittens are more open to new experiences, so brushing, nail trimming, and handling paws/ears become normalized. Reduces stress and fear associated with grooming later in life.
2. Makes Future Grooming Easier
Adult cats that weren’t groomed as kittens may resist or become anxious. Early grooming helps them become tolerant of tools like brushes, combs, clippers, and even baths (if needed).
3. Reduces Matting and Skin Problems
Long-haired breeds especially benefit from early brushing to prevent painful tangles and mats later. Early detection of fleas, dry skin, irritation, or allergies becomes easier.
4. Encourages Calm Handling
Kittens learn to tolerate being touched on sensitive areas (paws, tail, belly), which also helps during vet visits. Makes medicating or checking them later in life much easier.
